WORKSHOP
Capoeira Angola and Brazilian percussion
with Mestre Valmir & Aloan Fica Bahia
1 - 4 October 2009 Stockholm
Mestre Valmir is not just famous for his capoeira, also for his mission to turn young students from high risk areas into good leaders. 2005 he visit Sweden for his first time together with two
young capoeiristas Idjaie & Yuka from Massaranduba, an unprivileged area outside Salvador. to tell about capoeira and young peoples situation in those areas.
Aloan is student of Mestre Valmir and train as well as teach in FICA Bahia Salvador. Aloan is, inspite of his young age, a well known capoeirist. He’s grown up in the middle of the capoeira
tradition and started to teach 2005. Aloan is impressively responsible in his leadership and a very good berimbau teacher. Aloan visited Stockholm February – March and just return to Stockholm to
participate in Karnevalsommar – Rhythm against violence.

During our event Baguncaço, a group of young percussionplayers from Alagoas, will visit and host an open class for us and all the young people in Tensta. They will also talk about how to make
instruments out of garbage.
